BANNISTERS POINT LODGE DA06/2792

A modified plan has been submitted by Molar Freeman Architects for alterations and additions to the existing tourist accommodation. The new plans include an additional two levels comprising seven extra accommodation suites, car parking over the existing court-yard, and strata subdivision of the development. There has been a number of submissions made by local residents on the original plans and these are available on the council web site www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au the great majority of submissions opposed the development on the following grounds.

1 The size and bulk of the proposed building will be out of place on Bannisters point and when viewed from almost every direction.

2 There will be a loss of ocean views for both immediate residents and visitors.

3 The view from neighbouring Narrawallee Beach will that of an oversized building on Bannisters Point.

4 The fauna and flora will be adversely affected by any increased use of the reserve.

5 The reserve will be further used by the Lodge for parking thus reducing access to the reserve and Jones beach.

6 Increase noise and traffic in what is essentially a residential area.

7 The parking of patrons and staff vehicles on the roadway adjacent to the Lodge.

8 Overdevelopment of an environmentally sensitive site.

9 The proposed development is inconsistent with the objectives of various state government policies concerning development in sensitive coastal zones.

Submissions closed on the 23rd of May 20
