Urban Design apartment buildings with a height limit of 5 storeys could adorn our Harbour if Council's recommendations in the latest Development Control Plan are accepted.

Development Control Plan For Ulladulla (DCP56)
DCP56 will control development on land generally bounded by Parson St,
St. Vincent St, North St, The Harbour & Burrill St South.
Still of concern  the proposed height limit of up to 25metres, the idea that future open space can be provided on roof tops, heritage listed icons can be demolished if the developer keeps appropriate archival documentation and photographs,  and the obvious change in the character of Ulladulla if this DCP is adopted.
Concerned Residents are urged to attend the public meeting at  7pm on the 19th June at the Mollymook Surf Club

FUTURE PARK

Despite the best efforts of the community, Shoalhaven Council has elected not to support this venture regardless of the obvious benefits. The proposed Future Park will provide a facility badly needed in Ulladulla. Converting an old sewage works into an aquaculture centre will create jobs and fill a need for more tourist attractions. Council is constantly telling us we need to create jobs and boost tourism. This won’t be achieved by allocating this site as a football field. While sporting facilities are badly needed, land could be made available elsewhere to meet these needs. The community will continue to fight for the Future Park AND more sporting fields.

Just some of the facilities planned for the

FUTURE PARK

We all need to get behind this idea and persuade Council to rescind their decision to turn this area into a football field.

Member of SHOALHAVEN ACTION CAMPAIGN talks at a recent U&DCF meeting

Graeme Gibson, Chairman of the Shoalhaven Action Campaign, addressed the meeting to explain the aims and purpose of the group. It was formed in June 2007 following public meetings which expressed concerns with aspects of decisions and behaviour of certain Shoalhaven City Council Councillors.
The primary aim of the group, which is not a political party, is to support independent candidates in all three wards in the upcoming Council election who agree with the principles of transparent decision making and meaningful community consultation.

The main concerns of the group are :-

·
Councillors support of inappropriate developments which are not in the public interest and approved against professional advice and policy guidelines;
·
Decision making carried out in confidential sessions or before open public meeting debate has been carried out;
·
Amendments to the code of conduct which direct planning staff to make decisions which reflect the views of Councillors;
·
Declarations of political donations for election campaigns not made available to the public until after the election
One of the main Initiatives the group wish to see implemented is for developers to involve the community in consultation at the start of the planning process, not after the DA has been lodged.
Money should also be allocated by Council to enable genuine community engagement in decision-making processes.
Support can be given to the group by being an election candidate, a member, helping to raise funds or by physically helping to distribute leaflets and how to vote cards on election day.
See www.shoalaction.org.au for more details.

DRAFT MANAGEMENT PLAN

 Some of the main points addressed in the Draft Management Plan for 2007 – 2011

Problems of drainage behind the Baptist Church. Council have agreed to spend $45,000 to help alleviate this.
Roundabout at the junction of Maisie Williams Drive, Ocean Street and Illett Street $750,000 has been budgeted to do this.
New car park in St Vincent St opposite Ulladulla High School for use of shoppers and workers.

Ulladulla  is underfunded. This is a general feeling amongst the community.  More money needs to be spent on Ulladulla Sports Park in particular.
Council vehicle purchases raise concerns over the money spent on on these
Council canteen has a projected loss of at least $80,000 every year for the next four years. Members of the U&DCF felt that ratepayers should not be subsidising this amenity.

OFF-LEASH AREAS FOR DOGS

Council have approved off leash areas for dogs in Ulladulla, Milton, Burrill lakes Narrawallee and Mollymook.
Details of these areas are available on Council website
